Seeing a cat outdoor house you might first think of feral cats. Well, that‘s certainly one reason to get one of these cute outdoor cat houses. But there are indoor cats that like to be outdoors, they will appreciate having a great outdoor shelter too.
I was and I am always encouraging cat owners to let their cats go outdoors, to feel the wind around their whiskers and the grass under their feet. There is for cats so much to observe outdoors. Having a great outdoor cat house would make it certainly easier.
If you get a cat outdoor house for feral cats or for your cats doesn’t matter really. It matters though that the outdoor cat house offers enough indoor space and outdoor climbing options.
You will see that your cats will love to sit on the roof of their new outdoor cat house as well as snuggle in the interior. You might want to add your cat‘s favorite blanket or bed or even better a pet heating pad – although most of the outdoor cat houses are not meant for winter except for feral cats that are used to colder temperatures.
When we were living in Santa Fe, New Mexico we had a feral cat family, mother cat with two kittens and an uncle – well, we called that cat uncle – visiting us every day. This feral cat family would have enjoyed having an outdoor cat house in our backyard, certainly the two kittens. For them we might have gotten the Cattery with Home, letting one side open as safety escape option.
Make sure to compare the given dimensions of the outdoor cat house of your choice with the measurements of your available space. You might even consider installing the new cat outdoor house directly to your home‘s wall or just placing it into your backyard.
How to get your cats to explore this new fun place? Well, put your cat‘s favorite blanket in it and the favorite toy. By placing a treat into the outdoor house‘s interior your cat will be enticed to discover the whole new outdoor house. Give your cats in any case a lot of time and be patient letting them be around it until they accept it as their new playground.

My cats took to it immediately. They love jumping from level to level and feeling the grass under their feet. I ideally would have further weather-proofed it with another stain, but I just used it right out of the box.
My cat is obsessed.
It is cute and classy. I put a cat bed inside the cat house and covered it with a self-warming mat, and the cats like to lay on the bed looking out the open door of the cat house. I just bought the house this winter and it has not been that cold yet, but I think it will be warm enough.
